Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
Hebrews 13:16
Pastor John Writes:
The Friedland congregation, and our community, have responded with a tremendous outpouring of support for those affected by Hurricane Helene. The impact of Helene has devastated much of western NC, along with other parts of NC, and nearby states. The mountains were affected by severe flooding and landslides, leaving many families and communities in ruin.
Our Women’s Fellowship will continue to collect supplies through Sunday, November 3, and there are many other ways to help with relief efforts.
The Board of World Mission reports that they are helping to fund work being done at the home of a 74-year-old woman in Lansing, NC. Her house was completely flooded and needs a complete rebuild. The Rev. Chris Thore is heading up work on this project and is especially in need of people with carpentry, cabinetry, plumbing, and electrical skills. They are also interested in congregations or groups of congregations willing to come as mission teams to work either in the clean-up effort at Laurel Ridge or in the home of one of their neighbors. If you are interested in helping, please email Chris Giesler at chris@nullmoravianmission.org.
Another location to donate material goods is the Armando Rusindo Foundation drop-off point at the Stop and Save Mart in Clemmons, NC. More details and a complete list of needed items can be found at amissionofhope.org.
You can also assist by donating to the disaster response efforts of the Board of World Mission at MoravianMission.org/Give. Please designate your gift to “MDR” to ensure that funds can be directed to the disaster relief efforts where there is the greatest need.
Thanks be to God for the countless prayers and donations of time, effort, and resources to provide hope and relief to those who are suffering in the wake of this historic storm. Working together, may these efforts continue in the days ahead.
In Christ,
The Rev. John G. Rights
